Top Christian leaders across Kwara State have pledged to mobilise grassroots support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and the gubernatorial ambition of Sen. Saliu Mustapha ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The clerics made the declaration on Monday in Ilorin during an interdenominational prayer service organised by Christian Leaders in Politics.
The group, an umbrella body comprising ministers and leaders from various Christian denominations in the state, offered prayers for Nigeria, Kwara, Tinubu, Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, and Mustapha, a frontline aspirant in the Kwara governorship race.
In his address, the President of the Christian Leaders Fellowship, Pastor Abel Aiyedogbon, said Mustapha has shown exceptional regard for Christians throughout his years in public service.
“In over 40 years of my experience in Kwara, no public office holder has related with the Christian community the way Senator Saliu Mustapha has done,” he said.

He explained that the prayer session was organised to seek divine guidance and success for the senator ahead of the APC governorship primaries and the 2027 elections.
Pastor Jacob Elegun of Faith Contenders International Ministry expressed the readiness of Christian leaders across the state to mobilise support for Mustapha because of his record of inclusiveness and accessibility.
“Senator Saliu Mustapha has consistently shown that he is non-discriminatory in leadership and public service.
“He has given Christians their rightful recognition and support despite religious differences.
“We are ready to go from house to house and community to community to mobilise support for him,” he said.
The cleric added that Mustapha’s relationship with people of other faith had strengthened peaceful coexistence and mutual respect in the state.
Also speaking, the former President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Victor Dada, led prayers for peace, unity, and stability in Kwara and Nigeria.
He urged Christians to continue praying for the success of the administrations of Abdulrazaq and Tinubu, while also calling for divine intervention against insecurity affecting parts of the state. (NAN)
