The Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the welfare and support for families of fallen military personnel.

Musa gave the assurance while receiving Mr Hassan Braimah, brother of the late Brig.-Gen. Oseni Braimah, at the Ministry of Defence in Abuja. This is contained in a statement by the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Leah Babatunde, on Tuesday in Abuja.

The late Brig.-Gen. Braimah, an infantry officer of the Nigerian Army, died in the line of duty at Benisheikh on April 9, while serving as Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade.

He was buried with full military honours at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery, Maiduguri, on April 15, alongside seven other personnel who also died in active service.

During the visit, Hassan shared memories of his late brother, describing him as a dedicated officer who remained committed to national service until his death.

He expressed pride in the sacrifice made by the late general and pledged the family’s continued support for those he left behind.

Responding, Musa extended the condolences of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the bereaved family.

He assured that the ministry would continue to provide assistance and maintain open channels of communication with families of fallen heroes.

“The Armed Forces will never abandon the families of those who lay down their lives for this country, Musa added that the ministry remained committed to ensuring that the sacrifices of fallen personnel are honoured through sustained care and support for their families.

The minister said the visit underscored the nation’s gratitude to military personnel who paid the supreme price in defence of the country and reaffirmed government’s resolve to uphold their legacy.
