The All-Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti has dismissed claims that a non-indigene emerged as the party’s candidate in its House of Representatives primary elections.

The party’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr. Segun Dipe made some clarification concerning the ongoing controversy. He described the reports as false, misleading, and capable of inciting unnecessary ethnic tension in the state.

He stated that no person of any other ethnic origin contested or won the party’s primary election in any of the six federal constituencies in Ekiti.

According to him, all aspirants who emerged as candidates for the 2027 general elections are indigenes of the state and reside within their respective constituencies.

“The APC, Ekiti State Chapter, did not announce any candidate named Zaccheus Okoro for any federal constituency, as is being falsely circulated in some quarters,” he said.

Dipe added that political representation in the state has consistently remained issue-based, with a focus on development rather than ethnic considerations.

He urged the public to disregard the reports, describing them as propaganda aimed at undermining confidence in the party’s primary election process.

Similarly, the campaign directorate of APC House of Representatives candidate for Ise/Orun, Ikere, and Ekiti Southwest Federal Constituency I, Mr. Toyin Okoro, has described reports questioning his identity as mischievous ethnic blackmail allegedly sponsored by political opponents.

The campaign organization maintained that Okoro is a bona fide indigene of Ise-Ekiti in Ise/Orun Local Government Area of the state. It urged the public to disregard what it described as “cheap ethnic propaganda.
