Sir Patrick Okoye popularly known as Energy, is a true veteran in the Nollywood film industry and known for always delivering powerful Igbo adages and words of wisdom, Sir Patrick brings deep cultural value and traditional knowledge into every role he plays. Sir Patrick demise came as a painful shock to colleagues, students, friends, and everyone who knew him, adding that his passing had created a huge void that will be difficult to fill.

Dr Aniukwu prayed for the peaceful repose of the late actor’s soul and asked God to grant strength and comfort to his family, loved ones, and the entire university community during this difficult time.

Nollywood actor Ken Eric has paid tribute to the late Patrick Okoye, expressing deep gratitude for the mentorship and professional collaborations they shared. Describing Okoye as a “total artiste to the core,” Eric lamented that his passing is a devastating blow to the industry. He offered prayers for comfort for Okoye’s loved ones worldwide, wishing the veteran actor a peaceful transition.

The late actor served as a professor and lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies, Faculty of Arts, at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK, in Awka, Anambra State.

Energy, who was also a singer and choreographer, starred alongside notable actors including Patience Ozokwor, Osita Iheme, Chinedu Ikedieze, Rita Arum and Yul Edochie, among others.

1. One Dollar (2002)
2. Crazy Landlord (2002)
3. Over My Dead Body (2002)
4. Old School (2002)
5. Midnight Love (2003)

Patrick Okoye was known for his contributions to Nollywood and his dedication to teaching and mentoring young talents in the field of theatre and film studies. The veteran’s passing comes a few weeks after another Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo, passed away after battling ill health for some time.

He hails from *Anambra State* and remains active in Nollywood to this day, continuing to inspire both viewers and fellow actors.
