Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume on Thursday said President Bola Tinubu’s administration had posted achievements he described as unmatched in recent Nigerian history, and urged members of the City Boy Movement to intensify efforts to publicise the government’s record across the country.
Akume, while receiving a delegation of the group led by its Director-General, Oluwatosin Shoga in his office, said the administration had made significant progress despite inheriting major economic challenges, citing completed road projects, rising foreign reserves and ongoing infrastructure works under the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, some previously abandoned road projects, including sections of the Abuja-Kaduna corridor, have been completed, while more roads, universities, schools, power projects and dams across the six geopolitical zones are awaiting commissioning.
Akume also said Nigeria’s foreign reserves had risen from near depletion to almost $50 billion, which he described as the result of bold reforms and deliberate planning by the Tinubu administration.
He called on the City Boy Movement to deepen its grassroots sensitisation campaign, saying more Nigerians needed access to factual information about government policies and programmes.

“You have a responsibility to help tell Nigerians what this government is doing,” Akume said. “Take the message to the grassroots so that citizens can appreciate the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
In his remarks, Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Ibrahim Kana, described Akume as a loyal supporter of President Tinubu and praised his role in the administration.
Earlier, Shoga asked for the support and collaboration of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in expanding grassroots awareness of the administration’s policies and achievements.
He said the movement had already held community engagements in several states, including Benue, and was entering a new phase of nationwide mobilisation aimed at strengthening public support for the government.
Shoga said the group’s mission was to inform, engage and empower young Nigerians while helping bridge the gap between government and citizens.
