Soldiers of 65 Battalion have intercepted a truck ferrying a massive haul of illicit drugs along the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road, in a swift intelligence-driven strike that netted both the consignment and its driver.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops swooped on the vehicle on 9 July 2026, halting the shipment before it could reach its destination. Preliminary investigations indicate the drugs were bound for the Berger axis of Lagos State, though the arrested driver failed to disclose the identity of the owner or intended recipient.
In keeping with standard procedure, the suspect and the seized narcotics were promptly handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Lagos State Command, for further investigation and prosecution. The handover was carried out by the Commanding Officer, 65 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo.
Commending the operation, the General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, hailed the troops for their vigilance, professionalism, and operational sharpness. He charged them to sustain the momentum and shut every window of opportunity against drug traffickers and other criminal elements operating within the 81 Division Area of Responsibility.
