President Bola Tinubu on Monday announced 26 new appointments across 10 federal agencies and commissions, in a major shake-up that returns former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose to national reckoning as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency, REA, and elevates Major General Junaid Bindawa to head the National Salary and Wages Commission.
The appointments, unveiled from the Presidential Villa, span the country’s power, fiscal, population, education, housing and atomic energy sectors, and are seen as part of the administration’s continued effort to reposition key institutions driving its Renewed Hope Agenda.
Fayose Leads Reconstituted REA Board
Fayose, a two-term governor of Ekiti State, will preside over the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were named non-executive directors. The agency’s incumbent Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors complete the board.
His emergence marks a significant political appointment for the President, coming amid renewed federal focus on expanding electricity access to underserved rural communities.
Bindawa to Chair Wages Commission
At the National Salary and Wages Commission, Major General Junaid Bindawa was named chairman, with former Lagos federal lawmaker Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas appointed Secretary.
Three commissioners were also named: Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo) and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna). They will be joined on the commission by four members — Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
Reshuffle at Fiscal, Revenue Agencies
Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, until now Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund has been redeployed as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.

The President also constituted a new board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, naming Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman. Board members include Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
New Heads for Population, Power, Atomic Energy and Agric Mechanisation
In further appointments, Dr Abuh Mohammed was named Director-General of the National Population Commission, while Dr Akinola Odeyemi was appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading.
Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin takes over as Chairman/CEO of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, and Engineer Julius Oloro, a former council chairman, was named Chief Executive of the Kwara-based National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation. Oloro replaces the late Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
Literacy Commission, Housing Authority Get New Helmsmen
Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education. He replaces Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was redeployed in April to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund.
At the Federal Housing Authority, Gisaor Vincent Iorja was named Executive Director, Finance. An economist, legal scholar and academic, Iorja is currently the Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission. He replaces Mathias Byuan, who resigned earlier this year to contest the Benue governorship election.
Presidential Spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga said the appointees are expected to resume duty immediately and drive reforms in their respective agencies, in line with President Tinubu’s directive that federal institutions must deliver measurable value to Nigerians.
