Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has appealed to Nigerians for financial assistance as she battles an undisclosed illness, revealing that she needs ₦30 million to undergo three urgent life-saving surgeries.

The actress made the emotional appeal in a video shared on her Instagram page on Thursday, where she was seen lying on a hospital bed and asking fans, colleagues, friends and well-wishers to support her treatment.

Nwosu disclosed that she had been hospitalized for three weeks, adding that making her health condition public was a difficult decision. She said she was compelled to speak out because she needed urgent medical intervention. “I can’t keep quiet anymore,” she said.

Appealing for support, the actress pleaded, I need your help, don’t let me die. My fans, friends, family and colleagues, this was really hard for me to do, but I can’t keep quiet anymore. I need urgent life-saving surgeries.”

In the caption accompanying the video, Nwosu urged Nigerians to support her and share her appeal with others. “Please don’t scroll past. Share this post and support if you can. God bless you and may you and yours never experience this affliction,” she wrote.

Nwosu, who was born on August 1, 1963, is a native of Arochukwu in Abia State, southeastern Nigeria, but grew up in Lagos.

The actress, who is fluent in Igbo, Yoruba and English began her acting career decades ago and has become one of Nollywood’s respected veteran actresses, known for her roles in popular productions such as Living in Bondage, Fuji House of Commotion, Domitila and Skinny Girl in Transit. Her performances have earned her recognition among audiences across Nigeria.

This is not the first time Nwosu has faced a major health challenge. In 2012, she received public support after reports emerged that she was battling kidney-related complications and a heart condition. She later underwent treatment abroad with assistance from the Lagos State Government and well-wishers.

Her latest appeal has since generated reactions from fans and members of the entertainment industry, with many offering messages of support and prayers for her recovery.
