Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have neutralized two suspected terrorists and recovered an AK-47 rifle during an operation in Plateau State.
The operation took place on Monday at Nwur Village in Langtang North Local Government Area, according to an operational report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Tuesday.
The report said the troops had mobilised to the area alongside an apprehended suspected banwdit to recover a rifle allegedly concealed by the suspect in the village.
However, the troops came under attack while approaching Nwur Village. The soldiers responded to the attack, resulting in the neutralisation of two suspected terrorists.
The apprehended suspect who was accompanying the troops was also killed during the encounter. The report said no military personnel sustained injuries during the operation.
Following the encounter, the troops conducted an operation in the surrounding area and recovered an AK-47 rifle, one magazine and two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The recovered weapon and ammunition are expected to provide further information as security personnel continue efforts to identify and apprehend other members of the suspected criminal group operating in the area.
The military said troops continued their operations after the encounter to track down fleeing members of the syndicate.

The operation forms part of ongoing security efforts in Plateau State aimed at disrupting criminal activities and preventing terrorists and other armed groups from operating freely in affected communities.

In the Plateau operation, the recovery of the AK-47 and ammunition provides the military with additional evidence as the troops continue their search for other suspected terrorists and members of the criminal syndicate.
The military also urged continued support for security operations as troops intensify efforts to track fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks in the area.
The latest operation underscores the ongoing security challenges in parts of Plateau State, where authorities continue to pursue armed groups and other criminal elements responsible for attacks and insecurity.
As the operation continues, troops are expected to maintain efforts to locate the fleeing terrorists and recover additional weapons that may be linked to the group.
