Alimosho General Hospital, Igando, Lagos State, has launched a ₦250 million fundraising campaign to acquire critical medical equipment and strengthen healthcare services for residents.
The initiative was unveiled during the hospital’s 2026 Donors’ Appreciation Day, held under the theme, “Your Giving, Their Hope and Healing.”
Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Akinyele Akinlade, said the fundraising campaign would help improve healthcare delivery and make treatment more accessible, particularly for vulnerable patients.
Akinlade, who assumed office in May, said the management had introduced several clinical and operational improvements in response to growing demand for medical services.
Among the recent upgrades is the procurement of a modern electrocardiogram machine, supported by a dedicated technician.
He said the equipment has enabled medical staff to provide cardiac diagnostic services directly to bedridden patients in hospital wards, reducing the need to move critically ill patients for testing.
The hospital has also acquired a new echocardiogram machine, which has increased monthly echocardiography tests from about 20 to approximately 100.
Akinlade said laboratory capacity had also been expanded, allowing the hospital to provide essential diagnostic services, including HbA1c testing, around the clock.
According to him, the availability of the service within the hospital helps reduce additional expenses for patients who might otherwise have to visit private diagnostic centres.
Other improvements include the acquisition of new physiotherapy equipment, three automatic delivery beds and the establishment of a fast-track clinic.
The medical director added that more than 90 per cent of the hospital’s suspended ceilings had been renovated as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements.

Dr Rukayat Bakare, Chairman of the Alimosho and Friends Committee, emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in improving healthcare delivery across Lagos.
Bakare said government resources alone could not adequately meet the healthcare needs of the state’s growing population.
She praised donors who have supported emergency surgeries, provided medicines and helped indigent patients settle their medical bills.
According to her, the ₦250 million fundraising target would support several priority projects designed to expand the hospital’s diagnostic and specialist services.
Among the priority items is a ₦60 million automated tissue processor, alongside mammography and upgraded X-ray machines.
The fundraising plan also includes the expansion of the hospital’s dialysis centre to 20 beds, which would increase its capacity to provide renal care to patients.
Bakare urged individuals, organizations and other stakeholders to support the initiative through donations and partnerships.
The Chairman of the event, Dr Olushola Odunuga, commended the fundraising campaign and acknowledged the impact of previous donations on patients and healthcare services.
Odunuga, who is Commissioner II at the Lagos State Health Service Commission, said donations had helped patients who struggled to afford medical bills.
He called on individuals and organizations to continue complementing government efforts by supporting affordable and accessible healthcare.
The event also featured the recognition of donors whose contributions have supported healthcare delivery and humanitarian interventions at the hospital.
Among those recognized were Supreme Centre of God, Muslim Volunteer Foundation, Sisters of Grace, Deep Living Saints, Treasure Peace and The Wisha Foundation.
