The Osun State Police Command has arrested one Taye Kasali, accused of killing his mother, Mrs. Kudirat Kasali, in Bode-Osi, Ola Oluwa Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, on Wednesday in disclosed that the remains of the deceased were recovered from a shallow grave on a family farm after police launched an investigation into her disappearance.
He said the case was reported at the Bode-Osi Division on September 1, after Kudirat and her son were reported missing. The police commenced investigations and gathered intelligence that led to Kasali’s arrest on September 7.
Ojelabi said the suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation to killing his mother on August 31. According to the police spokesperson, Kasali allegedly told investigators that he used a machete to kill his mother following disagreements over family matters.

He reportedly claimed that his mother had been referring to him as a mad person and had threatened to lease out the family farmland, which he described as the family’s major source of livelihood.
The police said the suspect subsequently led operatives to the farm, where the remains of Kudirat were recovered from a shallow grave.
The machete allegedly used in the incident was also recovered and taken as an exhibit as investigations continue.
The Commissioner in Osun State, Mr. Ibrahim Zungura has directed that the suspect be thoroughly investigated and charged to court after the completion of the investigation.
Zungura also urged members of the public to promptly report missing persons and suspicious activities and other relevant security agencies.
He appealed to residents to provide useful information that could assist security agencies in preventing and investigating criminal activities.
