The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, COOUTH, Amaku, Anambra State, has introduced a new feedback mechanism to enable patients, relatives and members of the public share their experiences and make suggestions on how to improve service delivery at the facility.
The initiative, according to the hospital, is part of efforts by its management to improve patient experience, strengthen accountability and ensure that the services provided meet the needs and expectations of patients and other users of the facility.
The Chief Medical Director, CMD, of COOUTH, Dr Maureen Umeakuewulu, disclosed the development in a statement signed by the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Ms. Lovelyn Ezeakunne, and made available to newsmen in Awka.
Umeakuewulu said the feedback platform was introduced as one of the hospital’s smart initiatives aimed at creating a more responsive healthcare environment and giving patients a direct channel to communicate their experiences to management.
According to her, the mechanism will allow the hospital to receive information about areas where patients are satisfied, as well as identify aspects of its operations that require further improvement.
The statement encouraged patients, their relatives and members of the public who use the hospital’s services to make use of the platform and provide honest feedback about their experiences.
The CMD said such responses would assist management in identifying areas that require attention, recognizing members of staff who provide good services and continuously improving the overall quality of care at the hospital.

She emphasized that feedback from patients and members of the public could contribute significantly to efforts to make COOUTH more efficient and patient-friendly.
The statement quoted Umeakuewulu as saying, “See something, say something. Your voice can help us serve you better.”
Explaining how the new mechanism works, the CMD said patients and other users of the facility could access the feedback form by scanning the QR code provided on the COOUTH flyer with a mobile phone camera.
She explained that scanning the code would take users directly to the online feedback form, where they could communicate their experiences to the hospital management.
The platform allows users to submit different forms of feedback, including compliments, complaints, suggestions and general comments concerning their experiences at the teaching hospital.
The management said the mechanism was designed to make it easier for members of the public to communicate with the hospital without necessarily having to go through a lengthy process.
The initiative is also expected to provide management with useful information that can support decision-making and help the hospital respond more effectively to concerns raised by patients and their relatives.
COOUTH further urged members of the public to take advantage of the feedback channel whenever they have observations or suggestions concerning the services provided by the facility.
For those who may require direct communication, the hospital provided the following telephone numbers for feedback and enquiries: 08038715269, 08060949739, 08061284034 and 07067622706.
The hospital management said continued engagement with patients and the public would help strengthen service delivery and contribute to creating a better experience for everyone accessing healthcare at COOUTH.
