The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin has sacked his Special Legislative Aide, Umar Alhassan over social media posts disparaging the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Alhassan, a Kano-based TikTok personality popularly known as King Indara, was dismissed after posting the slogan “Abba Must Go” on Facebook and making other political comments about the governor and political allegiance in Kano.
The termination was announced in a statement issued by Barau’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Shitu Madaki Kunchi, on Friday.

According to the statement, the posts were considered disrespectful to the executive authority of Kano State and contrary to the standards of discipline and political decorum expected of an aide in the office of the Deputy President of the Senate.
Alhassan had also stated in his Facebook posts that political allegiance in Kano remained tied to former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, while identifying himself as a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Kunchi said the comments demonstrated what the office considered “gross indiscipline” and a breach of established administrative standards and the principles of mutual respect upheld by the Deputy President of the Senate’s office.
“Following social media posts made by one of the aides in the office of the Distinguished Deputy President of the Senate, known as King Indara, which showed indiscipline and disrespect towards the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, including the post ‘Abba Must Go’, the action was considered contrary to the values of discipline, respect and decorum,” the statement said.
The Senate leadership stressed that political appointees are expected to uphold institutional discipline and promote constructive engagement across the different levels of government.
“Accordingly, we announce his removal from the position of Special Legislative Assistant in the office of the Deputy Senate President with effect from September 18, 2026,” the statement added.
