The Nigeria National League, NNL, has issued a fresh set of mandatory requirements for clubs seeking to feature in the 2026/2027 season, warning that any club that fails to comply before the cut-off date will be barred from the competition.
The conditions, contained in a memo signed by the league’s Media Director, Amar Ignis, were issued to all 34 participating clubs on Sunday in Lagos.
According to Ignis, the Chief Operating Officer of the NNL, Danlami Alanana, said every club must fully comply with the Nigeria Football Federation Club Licensing Regulations.
Top on the list is proof of non-indebtedness to players and coaches in respect of sign-on fees, salaries and allowances.
Ignis said any club with outstanding financial obligations would not be permitted to register until it presents a letter from the NFF Arbitration Committee confirming that the matter has been cleared.
Clubs are also required to submit duly signed copies of players’ and officials’ contracts.

Similarly, any club owing the League over fines, cautions or registration fees from previous seasons will be stopped from registering until the obligations are settled.
Ignis listed the payment of a mandatory N20 million guarantee as another key condition, describing it as a demonstration of a club’s commitment to completing the league season.
Other requirements include evidence of incorporation with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), disclosure of shareholders’ details and a transparent ownership structure.
Clubs must also provide a standard home ground that meets NNL and NFF requirements, functional dressing rooms and medical facilities.
In addition, there must be valid insurance coverage for players and officials, as well as qualified coaches holding the appropriate CAF coaching licences.
Ignis confirmed that registration for the new season has commenced.
He said any club that fails to meet the stipulated requirements before the cut-off date will be barred from taking part in the 2026/2027 campaign.
The new season is scheduled to commence on Oct. 31 and will produce four promoted teams — one from each Conference — to the Nigeria Premier Football League.
