The Aliko Dangote Foundation, ADF, has unveiled a Student Share Grant Initiative that will give qualifying Nigerian students 10 free shares in Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE after they subscribe to a minimum of 10 shares in the company’s ongoing initial public offering, IPO.

The initiative is open to students aged 18 and above enrolled in public or private tertiary institutions across Nigeria, with the foundation funding an additional 10 shares in each eligible student’s name at no cost.

To participate, students must complete a verification process and subscribe to at least 10 shares through the foundation’s dedicated platform, ipo.alikodangotefoundation.org.

The Dangote Refinery IPO opened on September 14, 2026, and is scheduled to close on October 13, 2026. The shares are priced at N525 each, meaning the minimum subscription of 10 shares requires students to pay N5,250.

The foundation said the initiative is part of its broader efforts to promote education, economic inclusion and practical financial literacy among young Nigerians.

According to the ADF, combining investor education with direct participation in the capital market will give students practical experience in saving, responsible investing and asset ownership.

Aliko Dangote, founder of the foundation, said young Nigerians needed more than access to education and should also have pathways to wealth creation.

“Through this initiative, we want students to understand the value of saving, responsible investing and long-term ownership. Our goal is to help them develop an investment mindset early in life,” Dangote said.

He added that early exposure to investment opportunities could influence young people’s future financial behaviour and encourage greater participation in the formal economy.

ADF Chief Executive, Zouera Youssoufou, said the programme was designed to bridge the gap between learning about financial management and putting that knowledge into practice. “Financial literacy becomes more impactful when people can apply what they learn,” Youssoufou said.

She said participating students would go through the full investment process, from verification and subscription to allotment and ownership, giving them practical insight into how the capital market operates.

“We are seeking to inspire a lifelong interest in financial literacy, investing and asset ownership among young Nigerians,” she added.

The foundation said the knowledge and experience gained through the initiative could help students make more informed financial decisions and encourage broader participation in Nigeria’s capital market over the long term.
