Two officials in Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, and Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, have resigned their appointments.
Ojo announced his resignation in a letter to the governor on Monday but did not state any reason for his decision. Oyeleke, however, cited an unconducive working environment and his inability to fulfil the aspirations of his people within the administration.
Both officials said their resignations would take immediate effect, while expressing appreciation to Makinde for the opportunity to serve in his government.
Ojo’s letter, dated 2nd November, 2026, was addressed to the governor through the Secretary to the State Government. He referred to his appointment letter of 22nd June, 2026 and formally relinquished his position as commissioner with effect from November 2.
Ojo described serving the state under Makinde’s administration as an honour and thanked the governor for the opportunity.
Oyeleke also submitted his resignation in a letter dated November 2, thanking Makinde for his leadership, encouragement and support during his tenure.
The former special adviser said the working environment had become unconducive for him to effectively pursue and fulfil the aspirations of his people within the administration.

Oyeleke previously served two terms in the Oyo State House of Assembly and was also a local government chairman.
The resignations add to recent departures from Makinde’s administration as political activities build ahead of the 2027 general elections. However, neither official publicly linked his decision to the forthcoming elections or to any political disagreement within the government.
On October 12, the governor’s Chief of Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, also resigned from his position with immediate effect. He did not publicly disclose his reason for leaving.
Subsequent media reports linked Ogunwuyi’s departure to possible political disagreements over succession arrangements ahead of the 2027 governorship election. Those reports have not established any connection between his resignation and the latest departures.
Meanwhile, Sunday Olugbenga Falana, a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, also resigned on Monday, November 2.
Falana communicated his decision in a letter addressed to Makinde through the Chief of Staff. His resignation took immediate effect, and he thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve on the state’s electoral body. He did not publicly state his reason for leaving.
The three departures on November 2 have drawn attention to changes within the Makinde administration, although the available information does not establish a common reason for the resignations.
