Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Adesanya has stepped aside from the contest for the Awujale of Ijebu land, ending his legal challenge to the ongoing selection process for the vacant throne.
K1 formalised his exit by filing a notice of discontinuation at the Ogun State High Court, effectively withdrawing the suit he instituted against the process.
The document, filed on Monday and obtained on Tuesday, stated that the claimant had wholly discontinued the action in line with the Ogun State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2024 and the court’s inherent jurisdiction.
In the notice, the musician explained that the suit followed certain correspondences issued by the second respondent in 2025, which have since been withdrawn.
He urged the court to formally record the discontinuance and make any orders it deemed appropriate in the circumstances.

The legal action had earlier pitched K1 against the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, whom he dragged before the court while seeking an interim injunction to halt further steps toward installing a new Awujale.
Other respondents joined in the suit included the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Secretary of the local government, the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.
K1 had declared interest in the vacant stool, citing ancestral ties to the Jadiara Royal House under the larger Fusengbuwa Ruling House.
His claim, however, was rejected by the ruling house, which maintained that the Olori Omoba of Ijebuland has no ancestral connection to the recognised royal lineage.
With the withdrawal of the suit, the legal hurdle surrounding K1’s bid has been cleared, allowing the Awujale succession process to proceed without his involvement.
