Nigerian Afrobeats singer Asake has cancelled his scheduled concert in Los Angeles, United States, just days before the performance was due to take place as part of his ongoing “In God We Trust” tour.

The concert was scheduled for Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. The cancellation was confirmed on Friday, September 4, according to The Cable.

Ticket holders were informed of the cancellation through a notification issued by the organizers. The notice stated that the event had been cancelled and assured ticket buyers that they would receive automatic refunds.

According to the notification, refunds will be returned to the cards originally used to purchase the tickets. The organizers said the refund process would take up to five business days, while customers may have to wait an additional two to three days for the money to appear in their accounts, depending on their financial institutions.

The sudden cancellation has generated reactions among fans and social media users, with discussions emerging over what may have led to the decision.

Some users on social media have speculated that ticket sales could have been a factor behind the cancellation. However, there has been no confirmation that poor ticket sales were responsible for the decision.

Other social media users have disputed the speculation, claiming that the concert was close to selling out before it was cancelled. TheCable, however, reported that it could not establish any connection between ticket sales and the cancellation.

The Los Angeles show was one of several dates on Asake’s “In God We Trust” tour, which includes South African DJ and producer Uncle Waffles.

The tour covers several cities across North America and Europe, as Asake continues to take his music to international audiences following his growing profile within the global Afrobeats scene.

The cancellation also comes during the North American leg of the tour. Asake’s schedule had included performances in cities such as Miami and Houston before the planned Los Angeles appearance.

With the Los Angeles concert now cancelled, ticket holders have been directed to wait for their refunds rather than attend the previously scheduled event.

No specific reason for the cancellation was provided in the ticket-holder notification cited in the report. As a result, claims circulating online about the possible cause of the cancellation remain unconfirmed.

The development comes just two days before the scheduled Los Angeles performance and marks an unexpected change to Asake’s current international touring schedule.

Fans who purchased tickets for the Greek Theatre show are therefore expected to receive their money back through the original payment method, subject to the processing timelines provided by the organizers.

Asake’s remaining tour dates will be closely watched following the cancellation, particularly as the singer continues the international leg of his “In God We Trust” tour.
