The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers, GOCOP, will hold the 10th edition of its annual conference on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in Lagos, with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Nigeria LNG Limited, the Nigeria Customs Service and Dangote Group among its partners.

The conference, themed “2027 Elections: Trust, Transparency and Shared Responsibilities,” is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

GOCOP Publicity Secretary Kemi Yesufu also listed other partners as Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, the Nigerian Communications Commission, the Bank of Industry, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Private sector supporters include TAJBank, Emadeb Energy, Setraco Limited, Sovereign Trust Insurance and Nestlé Nigeria Plc.

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, will deliver the keynote address, while Dr Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, founding partner of Olisa Agbakoba Legal and a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association will chair the conference.

The panellists are CP Abayomi Shogunle, Commissioner of Police, Election Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, at Force Headquarters, Abuja; Prof Tayo Popoola, Head of the Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos; Adaora Onyechere Sydney-Jack, Creative Director of Gender Agenda and founder of WEWE Network Afrique; and Lanre Arogundade, Executive Director of the International Press Centre.

GOCOP Deputy President and Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, Olumide Iyanda, has thanked the organisations backing the event.

“We sincerely appreciate our sponsors and partners for their confidence in GOCOP and for recognising the importance of supporting credible conversations around Nigeria’s media industry, democracy and national development. Their contributions are an important part of making this year’s conference possible,” Iyanda said.

He said support from both the public and private sectors would help the Guild deliver the conference as it marks its 10th edition.

The conference will examine the responsibilities of electoral institutions, political actors, security agencies, the media, civil society and citizens in strengthening public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

GOCOP is a business membership organisation of 127 online publications in Nigeria, whose members own and operate digital publishing businesses across the country. The Guild promotes the business and ethics of online publishing, professional standards and the collective interests of its members, and works to strengthen the sustainability and credibility of digital journalism in Nigeria.
