Nigerian singer Mercy Isoyip, popularly known as Descushiel, has issued an apology to Nigerians and the Nigeria Police Force following her incorrect recitation of the Nigeria’s National Anthem during the Conference for Senior Police Officers in Imo State.

Descushiel had attracted attention when she wore a police uniform during the conference and made a mistake while reciting the National Anthem. Her video went viral, leading to criticism and trolling on social media, as some people assumed she was a policewoman due to her attire.

In a video shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Descushiel extended her apologies for her error, acknowledging that such mistakes are inexcusable. She addressed her fellow Nigerians, saying, “I sincerely apologize for the error I made during the recital of the National Anthem, I know such errors are inexcusable.”

She continued, “My good people of our country, please accept my apology, as well as my assurance that I will be more careful in the future to prevent such incidents from recurring. God bless the Nigeria Police Force. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Descushiel’s public apology demonstrates her willingness to acknowledge and rectify her mistake, and it highlights the importance of accurately representing national symbols like the National Anthem.
