The Kogi State government has announced the closure of schools for the off-circle governorship election scheduled for Saturday in the State.
School bells will fall silent in Kogi State as the government issues a directive for the closure of all educational institutions. The temporary hiatus is in preparation for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for Saturday.
The Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr. Wemi Jones, emphasized the importance of this closure, ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for the electoral process.
In a statement, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology outlined the decision, instructing all primary, secondary, and tertiary-level institutions to suspend regular activities from Friday, November 10, to Tuesday, November 14.
This temporary pause aims to create a conducive atmosphere for the election, allowing the democratic process to unfold without disruptions.
While classrooms remain silent during this period, the statement assures that normal academic activities will resume promptly on Wednesday, November 15.
The government’s decision reflects a commitment to maintaining a secure environment for both the electoral process and the educational pursuits of students, ensuring a harmonious coexistence of governance and learning in Kogi State.
