Following a recent emergency incident at the Port Harcourt International Airport, the aviation authorities have reopened the airport to other aircraft.

The closure occurred after a Bombardier CRJ-900LR aircraft belonging to Valuejet Airlines skidded off the runway. While efforts are underway to remove the affected aircraft, the airspace is now operational for other airlines.

The incident involved a Valuejet Airlines flight with 67 passengers and 5 crew members on board. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but some passengers sustained injuries.

The management of ValueJet airline attributed the incident to algae on the taxiway, causing the aircraft to slip off. They emphasized that no damage was done to the aircraft during the incident.

With the reopening of the Port Harcourt airport, normal flight operations are expected to resume. Aviation authorities continue to prioritize safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

Travelers and airline personnel alike will be keen on maintaining strict safety protocols to ensure the well-being of everyone involved in air travel.
