President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate to present the 2024 budget at the National Assembly on Wednesday, November 29.
Tinubu’s letter of intent was read at the plenary on Tuesday by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
President Tinubu, in the letter written to the Upper Chamber craved the indulgence of the Lawmakers to present the 2024 Appropriation Bill at a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives.
The letter read partly: “May I crave the indulgence of the Senate to grant me the slot of 11:00 hours on Wednesday, November 29, to formally present the 2024 Appropriation bill to a joint session of the National Assembly.
“While I look forward to addressing the joint session please accept the distinguished Senate President and Senators the assurances of my highest regards.
Following the development, Senate clerk, Barrister Chinedu Akubueze informed the Senators that there would be restrictions of movement in the entrances to the National Assembly, the clerk thereafter advised the Lawmakers to make use of the Presidential Villa gate to gain easy access into the Senate building.
Recall that Monday’s Federal Executive Council meeting approved the N27.5 trillion 2024 Appropriation Bill.
Minister of Budget and Economic Planning ,Atiku Bagudu explained that the budget was shored up from N26 trillion to N27.5 trillion due to foreign exchange rate changes.
As required by the Constitution, Tinubu is expected to present the 2024 Appropriation Bill before the National Assembly.
