In a distressing turn of events, kidnappers who abducted 10 individuals from the Sagwari Layout estate in Dutse, Abuja, on January 7, have reportedly killed three of their victims.
The grim development is seen as a ruthless message to the families, indicating the urgency of ransom payments.
Sources reveal that the bandits have amplified their initial demand from N60 million per person to a staggering N100 million, now totaling N700 million. The victims, allegedly killed due to the perceived delay in meeting the ransom, include a 13-year-old high school student named Folorunsho Ariyo.
This recent act of violence intensifies the urgency for government intervention, as residents in Sagwari Layout express frustration over the perceived inaction of authorities.
Plans for a massive protest have been underway, initially scheduled for Monday but postponed to Tuesday due to Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
Despite efforts to obtain a response from the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, no official statement has been issued regarding the ongoing crisis.
The situation raises concerns about the safety of individuals in the region and highlights the pressing need for coordinated efforts to address the escalating threat of kidnapping and violence.
