Amidst the ongoing leadership dispute in Kano State, security personnel, comprising police, soldiers, DSS and other operatives, have cordoned off both the Gidan Sarki Nasarawa, where the dethroned emir resides, and the palace of the current Emir.
The story is the same at the Kano State Government House.
Though no official statement has been made regarding the reason for their presence, a source within the security outfits who spoke on condition of anonymity told The Punch that security operatives were deployed to the three places to enhance security.
The sources said deployment of security personnel was necessary to prevent supporters of the two monarchs from attacking the places.
Journalists monitoring the situation report that despite the ongoing debacle, the ancient city remains calm as residents continue with their normal and lawful businesses.
