The Nigeria Customs Service Board, has confirmed the appointments of two Deputy Comptroller-Generals, DCGs, and five Assistant Comptroller-Generals, ACGs, during its 60th Regular Meeting held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
The meeting, presided over by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, took place at the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, new corporate headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
The newly appointed DCGs are O. A. Alajogun and K.I. Adeola. The ACGs include I. G. Umar, M.M. Tilley-Gyado, B. A. Makinde, O. A. Salefu and T. Bomodi. These appointments follow the statutory retirement of senior officers and adhere to the Federal Character Policy stipulated in Section 14(4) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.
In a strategic move to enhance its modernization efforts, the Board also approved the creation of a new ICT-Modernisation Department, upgrading the existing ICT Unit. This development underscores the NCS’s commitment to technological advancement and operational efficiency.

DCG K. I. Adeola has been appointed as the head of the newly established ICT-Modernisation Department. She will lead the department with the support of an Assistant Comptroller-General and five Comptrollers, focusing on implementing ICT initiatives to drive digital transformation within the Service.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, extended his congratulations to the newly appointed. He emphasized the need for them to double their efforts in carrying out the critical roles of revenue generation, trade facilitation and the suppression of smuggling to bolster Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
Credible News recalls that NCS on Friday announced the appointment of new management team members for the Service in acting capacity.
In a press statement, the national public relations officer, NCS, Abdullahi Maiwada noted that the Comptroller General of Customs, CGC, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, approved key management appointments in acting capacity and redeployment to enhance strategic service delivery.
