The Lagos State Police Command has sealed a church following allegations that 28-year-old Lagos State University,LASU, graduate Adedamola Ogunbode, was killed and buried there.
CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the development during a briefing at the police headquarters in Ikeja on Monday.
As stated by Hundeyin, the church was sealed after intelligence reports indicated that some individuals planned to set it on fire in retaliation. Authorities took preventive action to avoid further escalation.
“The church has been sealed as part of our efforts to ensure it is not destroyed out of vengeance. It remains a suspected crime scene, and we may revisit the site multiple times to gather further evidence,” Hundeyin explained.
He assured the public that updates on the investigation would be provided as new developments unfold.

Currently, three individuals are in police custody, including the pastor and two others. The investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department , with efforts to apprehend five more suspects, two of whom are reportedly outside the country in Benin Republic.
Hundeyin also referenced a statement released on Friday, where he clarified that the case, initially reported as a missing persons incident, was now being treated as a suspected murder.
Authorities are intensifying their efforts to locate the victim’s body and determine the exact circumstances of his death.
The State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has vowed to ensure a thorough investigation and urged the public to refrain from any actions that could interfere with the ongoing probe.
