Eniola Bolaji has once again proven her dominance in para-badminton SL3, clinching her 12th career gold medal at the Spanish Para Badminton International 2025 in Toledo.

The world number two and Paralympic bronze medallist delivered a stunning 2-0 (21-7, 21-10) victory over Turkey’s Halime Yildiz in Sunday’s final, reinforcing her reputation as Africa’s most decorated player in the sport.

Bolaji’s road to the title was marked by exceptional performances. She began with a 2-0 (21-15, 21-8) win over India’s Sanjana Kumari, followed by another straight-set victory against Yildiz (21-9, 21-12) in the third round. In the semi-final, she overpowered Ukraine’s Oksana Kozyba 2-0 (21-16, 21-4) to secure her place in the final.

President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, Francis Orbih commended Bolaji’s achievement, describing it as a testament to her resilience and unwavering dedication.

He emphasized that she remains the only African athlete with 12 international gold medals, a feat that continues to inspire the next generation of players.

Beyond celebrating Bolaji’s success, Orbih expressed excitement over Nigeria’s hosting of the All African Para Badminton Championships in Abia later this year.

He described the event as a major milestone for the country, providing a platform to showcase local talent and elevate African para-badminton on the global stage.

With this latest triumph, Bolaji has further cemented her place in history, and all eyes will be on her as she prepares for future tournaments, including the upcoming continental championship on home soil.
