Princess Adeyemi Faith Ajimo has been appointed the Regent of Akungba-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
This development is following the passing of the town’s traditional ruler, Oba Isaac Sunday Adeyeye Ajimo III.
The monarch, who was the Alale of Akungba-Akoko, died on March 3, 2025, creating a leadership vacuum in the community.
In line with tradition, the Ole Ruling House convened a meeting to decide on interim leadership, presided over by the head of the ruling house and attended by fifteen princes
The meeting resulted in a unanimous decision to appoint the late king’s first daughter, Princess Adeyemi Faith Ajimo, as Regent.

The decision was formally communicated to the Chairman of Akoko South West Local Government Area in a letter signed by members of the Alale Council of Chiefs.
The letter emphasized the need for swift government recognition and support for the new Regent, who is a 25-year-old university graduate.
The council noted that Princess Ajimo was chosen based on her royal lineage and her capacity to uphold the values and traditions of the throne during the transition period.
They called on the local government to notify all relevant stakeholders within the local government area and the Ondo State Chieftaincy Affairs Office, urging full government support and acknowledgment.
Princess Adeyemi Faith Ajimo will serve as Regent until a new monarch is selected and installed through the appropriate traditional and governmental processes.
