NNPCL’s Chief Communicator, Olufemi Soneye has been crowned Nigerian Institute of Public Relations Spokesperson of the Year 2025.
He came tops after a keenly contested race which climaxed on Wednesday night in Abuja where Soneye was celebrated for his commitment to transparency, professionalism, and impactful communication.
His selection followed a rigorous process that featured other notable nominees, including Shell’s Igo Weli, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi of the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Akande of Sifax Group, and Osagie Edward of NIMASA.
In his acceptance speech, Soneye described the award as a recognition of teamwork and dedication. “The recognition is not mine alone—it belongs to the exceptional team I work with every day,” he said.

Dr. Shaibu Hussein, Chair of the Adjudication Committee, described Soneye as a diligent and strategic communicator, whose influence, crisis management skills, and clarity of messaging distinguished him among his peers. Committee member Lami Tuiaka presented the award on his behalf.
Hon. Joshua Audu Ghana, Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Power, praised Soneye’s feat and confirmed that NIPR will spotlight his excellence throughout 2025.
