Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has strongly denied any involvement in a series of controversial audio and video messages currently circulating on social media.
In a detailed statement released by her legal representatives, the senator described the materials as malicious fabrications and part of a coordinated campaign by political adversaries to damage her reputation.
The legal team, led by M.J Numa & Partners LLP, revealed that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s official mobile phone number has been cloned and is being fraudulently used by unidentified individuals to impersonate her.
The impersonators have allegedly made unsolicited phone calls and sent misleading audio messages to prominent Nigerians, including legal luminaries and senior law enforcement officers.
“This development is not only alarming but also constitutes a gross violation of her privacy and a potential breach of national security,” the law firm stated.
They have formally petitioned the Director of the National Cybercrimes Centre of the Nigeria Police Force to launch a comprehensive forensic investigation.

Prominent individuals have already reported suspicious interactions. Senior Advocate of Nigeria Ifedayo Adedipe reportedly received a call from Akpoti-Uduaghan’s verified number, during which a voice claimed someone else would be in touch.
Similarly, the Area Commander of the Maitama Police Command returned a call to the senator, only to discover she had made no such call.
Veteran broadcaster Seun Okinbaloye of Channels Television also reported receiving a call, with the voice on the other end convincingly mimicking Akpoti-Uduaghan’s tone and speech pattern.
Experts believe artificial intelligence and voice cloning software were deployed to impersonate the senator and possibly other public figures.
The statement mentioned that synthetic audio has also been attributed to Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Senator Ben Obi, ACP Olabisi Davis, and Air Peace CEO Allen Onyema—signaling a more extensive network of impersonation targeting high-profile Nigerians.
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legal team condemned what they called “the deployment of advanced cyber impersonation tools,” warning that such tactics are not only dangerous but destabilizing in a democratic society.
They emphasized that any message, call, or recording supposedly from the senator should be verified before being considered authentic.
“For the avoidance of doubt, any communication that appears to originate from Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s number but has not been directly verified by her or through our law firm should be disregarded,” the statement said.
The senator, known for her vocal advocacy and rising profile, has described the entire episode as the handiwork of enemies threatened by her political trajectory.
She reaffirmed her commitment to transparency and said she would cooperate fully with authorities to unmask those responsible.
