Dr Ahmed Audi, Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has charged personnel to enhance intelligence-gathering techniques to curb the incessant killings in Benue State.
He issued the directive in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja by NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi.
Dr Audi condemned the recent spate of violence in Benue following his official visit to Yelewata, the scene of a deadly attack.

Describing the killings as gruesome, he emphasized the need for a strategic, decisive, and resilient approach to restore peace and order in the state.
He instructed officers and men in Benue to broaden their intelligence network to identify, arrest, and prosecute the perpetrators.
The Commandant General also directed the Zonal Commander and the State Commandant to deploy covert operatives, special forces, and tactical units across the state.
He urged collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure well-coordinated operations in a renewed offensive against the assailants.
Dr Audi reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to working closely with other sister security agencies to guarantee effective and sustained operations.
He extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
