Cristiano Ronaldo has now lost three finals in Saudi Arabia, after Al Ahli defeated Al Nassr on penalties to win the Super Cup.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes, but Al Ahli emerged victorious with a 5-3 win in the penalty shoot-out.

In a bid for the first silverware of the season, the Portuguese superstar powered Al Nassr to an early lead with the first goal of the game from the penalty spot.

The goal was Ronaldo’s 100th for Al Nassr as he became the first player in history to score 100 goals for four different club and country.

The lead was short-lived as Franck Kessie equalized for Al Ahli in additional time with both teams heading to the break level.

Al Nassr did well to regain the lead in the 82nd minute when Marcelo Brozovic converted with a clinical finish.

The drama was not over as Riyad Mahrez found Roger Ibañez, who scored the equalizer in the 89th minute, forcing the match into a penalty shootout.

In the shootout, Ronaldo, Joao Felix, Mahrez, Kessie, and Ivan Toney all scored their penalties.

Al Nassr star Abdullah Al Khaibari missed from the spot as Al Ahli went on to claim the win.

Al Ahli secure the Super Cup title as Ronaldo suffered his third consecutive final defeat with Al Nassr since joining in January 2023.

The Portuguese football star previous came up short in the Saudi Super Cup and King’s Cup against rivals Al Hilal.

Al-Nassr started brightly, pressing hard in search of an early breakthrough.

Ronaldo himself went close with an overhead attempt, while Wesley and Felix also tested goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. Their persistence paid off late in the first half when Ronaldo converted from the spot after Ali Majrashi was penalised for handball.

But parity was quickly restored as Franck Kessie struck a precise effort from the edge of the box. The contest swung again in the second half when Marcelo Brozovic punished a mistake from Kessie to fire Al-Nassr 2-1 ahead with just minutes remaining.

In the shootout, Ronaldo converted his kick with laser-like. In doing so, he became the first player in history to net 100 + goals for 5 different teams, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Turin, Portugal, Al-Nassr
