The All Progressives Congress, APC, chapter in Jigawa State took decisive action by suspending Alhaji Sale Idris, the party chairman at Roni Local Government Area.
This move followed his arrest on allegations of raping and impregnating a 14-year-old girl.
The suspension was formally communicated through a letter signed by the State party chairman, Hon Aminu Sani Gumel, and made available to the press.
Allegations against Idris had led to his arrest by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on October 4, prompted by a complaint from the victim’s brother.
The NSCDC’s spokesperson in the State, Adamu Shehu, confirmed through a statement that after a laboratory test, the minor was found to be carrying “a healthy pregnancy of about four months and two weeks.”

The NSCDC reported, “The brother of the victim reported the case at the NSCDC Roni LGA Division after the suspect refused to take responsibility for the pregnancy. Instead, he was pressuring the family to go for abortion.”
The APC statement outlined, “Following the allegation of rape and impregnation of a minor and the outcome of preliminary investigation of the State chapter, the party has come up with the following resolutions:
“That your act contravened Section 21.2 (viii) and (x) of the APC 2022 Constitution as amended and that there is a need for further investigations.
“That the party agreed on the need for further investigation on the matter. Consequently, you are hereby suspended from the chairmanship of the party of Roni LGA pending the final report of investigation.”
The party additionally instructed Idris to hand over its affairs to the local government area’s vice chairman.
