The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has confirmed Vincent Bulus Venman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the member of the House of Representatives for Langtang North/Langtang South Federal Constituency, Plateau State.
The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the membership of Vincent Bulus Venman, representing the All Progressives Congress , APC , in the House of Representatives for the Langtang North/Langtang South Federal Constituency in Plateau State.
The appellate court also criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission ,INEC , for appealing the decision of the national and state houses of assembly elections petitions tribunal in Jos, which had confirmed Venman’s status as a House of Representatives member.

The initial tribunal had nullified the election victory of Beni Lar from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the PDP’s failure to conduct a valid congress, thus making it ineligible to sponsor him.
The tribunal then declared Venman of the APC the lawmaker for the Langtang North/Langtang South Federal Constituency.
However, INEC appealed the tribunal’s judgment, which the Court of Appeal ultimately dismissed.
The three-judge panel expressed disappointment that INEC had appealed the tribunal’s verdict in an effort to defend the PDP candidate’s election.
The court ordered INEC to pay a cost of N1 million to the respondents in the appeal.
“The appeal fails for lack of merit and is accordingly dismissed. Judgment of the Tribunal is hereby affirmed,” the court ruled.
