In a ripple effect of the nationwide strike declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress ,NLC, and the Trade Union Congress ,TUC, the Kano State Ministry of Education has taken the decision to suspend secondary school qualifying examinations in the state.
Originally scheduled for Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the examinations have now been postponed indefinitely.
The announcement, conveyed in a statement signed by Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry, expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the suspension.
It specifically addressed students, parents, and guardians, urging understanding during these challenging times.
This development aligns with the broader impact of the strike, as various sectors in the state, including banks, hospitals, and public spaces, experienced disruptions.
The NLC and TUC had earlier called for the indefinite strike, despite a court order attempting to restrain their actions.
The repercussions are unfolding across different facets of daily life, emphasizing the widespread influence of the labor unions’ collective decision.
