Operatives of the Nnewi Vigilante Service in Anambra State have arrested 30 individuals suspected of being involved in cybercrime, Yahoo Yahoo, and kidnapping.
The arrests were made during a raid on two buildings in Obiofia, Nnewichi-Nnewi, as part of the “Operation Sweep” initiative aimed at combating various forms of criminal activities in the area.
The suspects, including young girls allegedly exploited by them, were apprehended, and items such as charms, mobile phones, and dozens of sim cards were recovered.
The commander of the vigilante group confirmed that the suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution, and the facility housing them has been sealed for additional inquiries.
Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the arrests and stated that the investigation has commenced.
