The Senior Staff Union in Colleges of Education, Nigeria ,SSUCOEN, has expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for withdrawing the directive requiring tertiary institutions to remit 40% of their Internally Generated Revenue ,IGR, to the federal government.
President of SSUCOEN, Danladi Msheliza, issued a statement commending the decision and urged President Tinubu to revisit previous agreements aimed at enhancing the quality of education.
The union acknowledged Tinubu’s responsiveness to concerns about the potential negative impact of the 40% deduction on the struggling tertiary education sector. The cancellation of the policy was announced by Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman ,SAN, during the University of Ibadan’s 75th Founder’s Day ceremony.
