In a proactive move to alleviate the impact of the recent removal of fuel subsidy, the Osun State government has unveiled a fleet of commuter buses dedicated to conveying civil servants, students, and other residents along selected routes within the state.

The official unveiling ceremony, presided over by the State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, represented by Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, took place in Osogbo on Monday. Governor Adeleke assured the residents that their welfare remains a top priority for the administration, emphasizing the commitment to initiatives that bring relief in the face of economic challenges.

The newly introduced buses are slated to operate during specific hours to cater to the needs of both morning and afternoon shifts. The morning shift will run from 6:45 am to 9 am, while the afternoon shift is scheduled from 3 pm to 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

Governor Adeleke expressed appreciation for the resilience and commitment of civil servants in the state, acknowledging their dedication in the face of economic hardships. He assured them that the government would persist in prioritizing their welfare and well-being.

Commissioner for Transportation, Sesan Oyedele, in his opening address, described the Adeleke government as worker-friendly and gave assurances that more buses would be added to the fleet in the coming days. Oyedele also disclosed that passengers would be charged a token fee for each drop, contributing to the running and maintenance of the buses.

The designated routes for the five buses in Osogbo include Dada Estate-Capital-Okefia-Olaiya, terminating at Abere Secretariat. The second bus will ply Stadium Roundabout-Ayetoro-Old Garage-Olaiya, also terminating at Abere Secretariat. The third bus will serve the route from Oja Oba-Isale-Osun-Odi Olowo-Olaiya, concluding at Abere Secretariat.

The fourth bus will operate from Owode Ede-Abere-Ogo Oluwa-Olaiya, terminating at Old Garage, while the fifth bus will commence its route from Okinni-LAMECO-Dele-Yes Sir-East Bye Pass, concluding at Abere Secretariat.

This strategic initiative by the Osun State government reflects a commitment to finding practical solutions to the challenges posed by the removal of fuel subsidy, ensuring that residents can continue their daily activities with minimal disruption.
