Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, names the Team of the Tournament, with finalists Ivory Coast and Nigeria prominently represented in the Dream XI.
The Super Eagles trio of William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina and Ademola Lookman has been named in the best eleven of the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.
An AFCON triumph would have been no less than Troost-Ekong deserved for his sterling campaign for the Super Eagles.
He adapted well to coach Jose Peseiro’s back three/five, and his leadership and composed organisation of the backline — a defensive unit that was breached only once from open play before the Ivory Coast’s late comeback in the final — was critical to Nigeria’s run in the tournament.

Victor Osimhen, the 2023 African footballer of the year, was not among the best eleven.
Franck Kessie, Jean Seri, and Ghislain Konan represented Cote d’Ivoire, while Ronwen Williams and Teboho Mokoena were named from the South African team.
The best team featured Chancel Mbemba and Yoane Wissa from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as Emilio Nsue from Equatorial Guinea.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu received the team on Tuesday. The president presented each member of the squad with a national honour, as well as land and a flat in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
