Google announced on Wednesday that it has blocked more than 5.5 billion advertisements and suspended an additional 12.7 million for breaching its policies.

Additionally, the tech giant stated that it removed ads from over 2.1 billion pages.

In a statement, Google emphasized the importance of providing relevant and trustworthy information to billions of users worldwide through its products, including ads.

The company highlighted its continuous efforts to protect the digital advertising ecosystem, with thousands of employees working diligently around the clock.

Google further stated that it is releasing its annual Ads Safety Report to showcase the progress made in enforcing advertiser and publisher policies while ensuring accountability in maintaining a healthy ad-supported internet.

In 2023, it said scams and fraud across all online platforms were on the rise.

It added: “bad actors are constantly evolving their tactics to manipulate digital advertising in order to scam people and legitimate businesses alike. To counter these ever-shifting threats, we quickly updated policies, deployed rapid-response enforcement teams and sharpened our detection techniques.”
