Aba football enthusiasts have hailed the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria for their 1-0 win over Niger Republic at the WAFU B U-17 Championship in Ghana.
Eaglets secured their first win at the championship with a goal from Rapha Adams in the 31 minute to beat Niger 1-0 at the University Stadium in Accra on Sunday.
Some football fans who spoke to newsmen on Monday said the most important thing at the championship is for the boys to keep winning.
Uchendu Maduako hailed the players for their doggedness that gave them the win against Niger but noted that the team is not well prepared for the championship.
“In my observation, the team lacked creativity in the midfield and the technical crew has a lot to do in that area for the team to start scoring goals.
“Besides, there is no team work and that was why they found it difficult to score against a well organised Burkina Faso in the first match,”he said.
Ebere Okoro, an Enyimba supporter praised the team for going all out to beat Niger in spite of finishing the match with 10 men.

Okoro called on the technical crew to instill discipline into the players so that cards would not cause them the championship.
“Nigeria is the defending champions and they need to show it starting from the next match against already eliminated Togo to the end of the championship,”Okoro said.
Magnus Obasi hailed the team for the win over Niger to brighten their chances of retaining the title they won at the last championship.
“Though I did not watch the match, I am happy to hear that the boys won and I am looking towards a better outing against Togo,”he said.
He called on the coaches to teach the players the important modern basic football techniques, knowing well that they have been prepared to take over from the senior team players.
“They can still do that after this championship and not mainly in Ghana,”Obasi said
Coach Godwin Oduma of United Football Academy, said the team has not stamped their authority on the championship because they depended on individual skills.
“Individual skills do not win matches these days but teamwork and tactics, so our coaches need to read each match well to approach matches.
“Our defenders are doing well but the transition from the defence to the strikers is still lacking because the midfielders are not working.
“We need midfielders that can distribute the ball well, give strikers the final pass to score the goals,”Oduma said
According to reports, the Eaglets moved to second place on Group B table behind Burkina Faso who top the group on the same points but with superior goal difference.
