The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for various entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.
The recruitment exercise, which opened on Monday, July 20, is aimed at strengthening the commission’s workforce and improving its capacity in key areas, including electoral administration, voter registration, election logistics and data management. The online application portal will remain open until Monday, July 27.
According to a notice published on INEC’s official website, interested applicants are required to complete the application process online by creating an account on the recruitment portal, filling out the application form and uploading all necessary documents.
INEC stressed that the exercise is free and warned applicants against submitting false information or forged credentials. The commission said anyone found guilty of such offences would be disqualified and may face legal action.
The available vacancies are divided into three categories: Professional Cadre, Administrative Officer IIÂ and Executive Officer.
Under the Professional Cadre category for Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12, available positions include Accountant, Clinical Officer, Lawyer, ICT Officer, Engineer and Quantity Surveyor.
Applicants for these positions must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, while some roles may require a master’s degree from a recognised institution.
Candidates are also expected to have relevant professional certifications, including NBA, COREN, NSE, NIQS, ICAN, ANAN or CPN, where applicable, as well as at least two years of post-qualification experience.

They must also possess an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate and demonstrate strong analytical, communication, problem-solving and ICT skills.
For the position of Administrative Officer II on Grade Level 08, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma or equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences.
Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate competence in data management, record-keeping, Microsoft Office applications and other ICT tools, alongside an NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate.
The Executive Officer role on Grade Level 07 requires applicants to possess a National Certificate in Education or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
Candidates should also have basic knowledge of computer operations, data management, communication and organizational skills.
INEC stated that applicants must meet the following conditions: Possess a valid certificate of state of origin signed by the chairman or secretary of their local government area, be certified physically and mentally fit by a government medical officer, be not more than 35 years old at the time of application, have no criminal conviction and demonstrate good character, be willing to serve in any part of Nigeria and also show integrity, discipline and commitment to public service.
Applicants are required to follow the following application process: Visit the INEC recruitment portal, create an account using their personal details, email address and National Identification Number, and verify their email address before proceeding.
After logging in, candidates must select their preferred cadre and vacancy, upload the required documents and carefully review their applications before submission.
The required documents include a passport photograph, birth certificate or declaration of age, O’Level result, relevant educational certificates, local government identification certificate and NYSC certificate where applicable.
INEC advised applicants to carefully select their preferred vacancy, as changes cannot be made after submission. The commission added that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next stage of the recruitment process.
