The Nigerian Army on Saturday announced a significant achievement in the ongoing operations against terrorists, as troops successfully raided an IPOB/ESN camp located in the Enugwu Umuonyia.

During this well-coordinated operation, the soldiers engaged in a fierce firefight with the terrorists, rescued one person and recopqvered a substantial arsenal of weapons.

In a separate mission in Kebbi State, the troops executed a remarkable rescue operation that resulted in the safe extraction of eight hostages. This operation was marked by intense gunfire with the kidnappers, showcasing the bravery and determination of the military personnel involved.

The Army headquarters disclosed that the  relentless military offensive against insurgent factions led to the surrender of 15 fatigued Boko Haram terrorists, who came forward with their families in Borno State

This development underscores the effectiveness of the ongoing military strategies aimed at dismantling these terrorist networks.

The statement elaborated: “Through a series of meticulously planned operations, our troops have effectively dismantled numerous terrorist hideouts, apprehended key figures within these groups, and seized a variety of firearms and logistical supplies. Additionally, several Boko Haram militants and their families have chosen to surrender.”

In the operation targeting the IPOB/ESN activities in Southeastern Nigeria, the troops stormed the hideout in Enugwu Umuonyia. Faced with overwhelming force, the terrorists were compelled to flee, abandoning a significant cache of arms and supplies.

The soldiers conducted a thorough search of the area, destroying the hideouts and recovering an impressive haul, which included 78 rounds of 7.62mm by 39mm ammunition, 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 20 live cartridges, a pump-action shotgun, a makeshift pistol, an AK-56 magazine, and six vehicles that were discovered on-site.

Furthermore, on October 9, 2024, troops operating in Plateau State successfully intercepted a well-known gunrunner during a precise stop-and-search operation along the Mangar-Bokkos road, further contributing to the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in Nigeria.
