The Confederation of African Football , CAF, has confirmed Kenya’s status as the host for the 2025 Africa Nations Championship, CHAN, dismissing any speculation about losing hosting rights.
In a statement to the public, CAF’s Host Country Manager, Kabelo Bosilong assured Kenyans that the 2024 CHAN hosting rights remain firmly with the country.
He emphasized CAF’s commitment to ensuring the tournament will take place as planned, not just in Kenya, but also in Uganda and Tanzania, as initially intended.
Bosilong stated, “This tournament , CHAN, will take place in the countries where it was intended to take place.” His comments aim to quell any concerns over the progress of preparations, especially as the tournament’s opening date approaches.
Despite reports of construction delays at key venues, including the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Bosilong expressed confidence in Kenya’s ability to meet the necessary standards in time for the tournament. Sources close to the preparations have confirmed that significant efforts are underway to ensure the stadium will be ready for the competition, which is scheduled to run from February 1-28, 2025.

While the delays have raised questions about the readiness of infrastructure, the Kenyan government and local organizing committee are working closely with CAF to ensure the event’s success. The tournament, which is exclusively for players based in Africa’s domestic leagues, is a significant event on the continent’s football calendar, and Kenya’s hosting will be a key milestone for the nation.
Bosilong’s statement offers reassurance to both the Kenyan public and football fans across Africa, signaling that despite the challenges, CAF remains confident in Kenya’s ability to host the 2025 CHAN as planned.
