North-West University, Kano, has dismissed 41 students and suspended 18 others over examination malpractice during the first semester of the 2023/2024 academic session.
This decision was outlined in a circular dated January 3, 2025, and signed by Jafaru Sule Muhammad, the Head of the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions, and Records, on behalf of the registrar.
The document revealed that the university’s Senate made the decision at its 56th regular meeting, which took place on December 30, 2024, following recommendations from the Central Examination Misconduct Committee.

According to the circular, the students involved were found guilty of breaching the institution’s examination rules, while 42 others were issued written warnings for their roles in the misconduct. Two students were fully cleared of all allegations.
The implicated students came from various faculties, including Basic Medical Science, Science, Computing, Education, Social and Management Sciences, and Humanities.
