Tyson Fury, the iconic heavyweight champion, has officially announced his retirement from boxing, drawing the curtain on a storied career.
This decision follows back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, who claimed the undisputed heavyweight title in their encounters.
Fury’s next move had been a subject of intense speculation, with many fans hoping for a trilogy bout against Usyk or a long-awaited clash with fellow Briton Anthony Joshua.
However, the “Gypsy King” has opted to retire, leaving behind a legacy that has forever shaped the sport of boxing.
In an Instagram video posted on Monday, Fury addressed his millions of fans with a short but poignant message:
“Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet. I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast. I’ve loved every single minute of it. I’m going to end with this: Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side.”
He captioned the post: “Thanks, it’s been a blast 💥 thanks to everyone who helped out along the way! Happy new year 🥳. Jesus is king 👑 now & forever.”

Fury’s two bouts with Usyk, the first in May 2024 and the second in December, ended in heartbreak.
The first was a split decision loss, handing Fury his first professional defeat and allowing Usyk to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.
In the rematch, Fury showed tremendous heart but ultimately lost by unanimous decision.
In the wake of these losses, discussions swirled around a potential showdown with Anthony Joshua, with fans and pundits alike seeing it as the perfect fight to cap Fury’s career.
Joshua himself had expressed his desire for the fight, stating at The Ring Magazine Awards: “It has to happen this year.”
Yet, despite the widespread anticipation, Fury has chosen to walk away from the sport after over a decade of dominance, solidifying his place as one of the most charismatic and compelling figures in boxing history.
His decision marks the end of an era, one filled with unforgettable moments both inside and outside the ring.
