Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has cautioned individuals responsible for the recurring conflict among Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin communities in the state to refrain from politicizing the situation and endangering lives.
Speaking during the inauguration of a 100-member peace committee at the Local Government Service Commission in Osogbo on Monday, the Governor warned against any attempts to use the crisis for political gains, emphasizing that such actions would attract legal consequences.
Represented by his deputy, Kola Adewusi, the Governor urged the committee members to carry out their responsibilities impartially and with integrity.

His words; “The administration frowns at any attempt to politicise the crisis. We particularly warn those masquerading under communal struggle for political agenda to stay away from the issue. We will no longer tolerate playing politics with the lives of our people.
“Among the terms of reference of the committee, which has two weeks to present its report, include to look into the remote and immediate causes of the dispute; determining, delimiting and marking the exact boundaries among the three communities of Ifon, Ilobu and Erin-Osun; signing a truce with a view to nipping the dispute in the bud.
“The committee would also take appropriate decisions that will enable the government to achieve permanent peace in the areas, make recommendations to government on permanent delineation of the boundaries and visits to the location the disputed areas and other relevant, areas that will enable the committee to determine the areas.”
“Each of the affected communities will have twenty-five representatives, while the State Government will also be represented by an equal number of members.
“The Ataoja of Osogbo land, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun, Larooye II and a retired judge of the Osun State judiciary and Chairman, Osun State Boundary Commission, Justice Moshood Adekunle Adeigbe, will serve as the Chairman and Co-Chairman of the committee respectively.
“Four other revered traditional rulers, as well as other individuals chosen by the government, will serve as members of the committee.
”Speaking on behalf of the Chairman of the committee, the Co-Chairman, Justice Moshood Adeigbe, pledged the committee’s commitment to thoroughly address the issues and deliver on its mandate.
