The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC, has announced a reduction in the price of petrol, now set at N860 per litre.
This move comes in the wake of a similar price adjustment by Dangote Refinery, which recently lowered its fuel price from N890 to N825 per litre.
Hammed Fashola, the National Vice President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria , confirmed the price reduction, describing it as a welcome development for Nigerian consumers.
Fashola emphasized that this reduction would provide much-needed relief to the public, especially given the longstanding burden of high fuel prices that many Nigerians have been grappling with.

While the new price has not yet been updated on the official NNPC portal, the company has reassured the public that the necessary updates are currently being processed and will be reflected soon.
This price cut by NNPC is expected to alleviate some of the financial strain on households and businesses across the country, offering a brief respite from the soaring costs of fuel that have significantly impacted transportation and daily living expenses.
The reduction also signals a shift in the competitive pricing strategy among major players in the Nigerian oil and gas industry, potentially influencing the broader market dynamics.
As Nigerians eagerly await the official confirmation, many are hopeful that this will be the first of more price reductions aimed at stabilizing the nation’s fuel market.
