The Concerned Northern Youth Stakeholders have called on the Federal Government to appoint a Minister of State for Youth Development from Northern Nigeria.
In a statement released in Abuja on Friday, the group’s Coordinator, Usman Doshiro, emphasized that such an appointment would enhance the effective implementation of youth-focused policies across all regions, aligning with the administration’s promises ahead of 2027.
“Nigeria’s youth are diverse, and ensuring equitable leadership across regions will foster national unity and inclusiveness in youth policies,” Doshiro stated.
He highlighted the significance of regional representation, noting that a Minister of State from the North would complement the efforts of the current Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, particularly in reaching young people in rural areas.

Doshiro also described the youth as a crucial pillar of national development, stressing that the appointment would inspire and mobilize them toward unity and progress.
Acknowledging Olawande’s leadership, he praised the Ministry’s renewed focus on youth inclusivity, skills development, and entrepreneurship.
However, he urged the government to strengthen these efforts by ensuring broader grassroots engagement and regional balance.
“This decision would reinforce the Renewed Hope Agenda and keep Nigeria’s youth actively engaged in nation-building,” Doshiro added.
